Osmosis is a natural phenomenon. In nature, water flows from a low concentration solution through a semi-permeable membrane to a solution of high concentration. The opposite of osmosis in nature is that water is pressed from a concentrated solution to a solution of low concentration by artificial pressurization.

In using reverse osmosis membrane and the normal decay of performance, the decline of equipment performance due to contamination is more serious. Usual contamination mainly includes chemical scale, organic and colloidal contamination, microbial contamination, etc.

Reverse osmosis chemicals, which can improve the performance of reverse osmosis membranes and help significantly reduce deposits and impurities on reverse osmosis membranes, are chemicals designed specifically for reverse osmosis membranes to effectively prevent these contaminants from adhering to the surface of the membrane.

Is RO water aggressive?

Reverse osmosis water is aggressive and corrosive because it is soft, low alkalinity water with a slightly acidic pH. Unless adequately treated, reverse osmosis water may cause corrosion to downstream fixtures and piping, including distribution systems.

When using a reverse osmosis unit, systems such as piping should use plastic piping to prevent corrosion; instead of metal piping, especially if the piping is in contact with high purity water.

We can also use reverse osmosis corrosion inhibitors to change the corrosiveness of water and other problems.

What is RO Antiscalant chemical?

Reverse osmosis scale inhibitors are specifically used in reverse osmosis (RO) systems and nanofiltration (NF) and ultrafiltration (UF) systems. To prevent membrane surface scaling, which can improve water production and water quality and reduce operating costs.

Reverse osmosis scale inhibitors mainly include some natural dispersants, phosphonic acid, phosphonic carboxylic acid, phosphonic acid, polymer, etc., while most of the scale inhibitors currently used are polymers. They can disperse insoluble inorganic salts in water, prevent or interfere with the deposition of insoluble inorganic salts, scaling.

Commonly used reverse osmosis scale inhibitor classification are mainly organic phosphine series scale inhibitor, organic phosphine salt series scale inhibitor, polycarboxylic acid type scale inhibitor dispersant, compound scale inhibitor, and RO scale inhibitor. Different RO scale inhibitors are suitable for different types of work, and choosing the right RO scale inhibitor will bring out its maximum effect.

Is RO water corrosive to stainless steel?

The primary advantage of stainless steel is good resistance to general corrosion, stainless steel rarely produces current corrosion and stress corrosion damage, but stainless steel is prone to pitting. Crevice corrosion, pitting corrosion represents local erosion of the metal, causing depression holes on its surface. If the chromium oxide passivation layer is destroyed, chloride ions will attack the bare metal to form pitting corrosion.

In order to avoid the occurrence of pitting and crevice corrosion of the high-pressure pipeline of the membrane system, different water sources should use different types of stainless steel.
